With young kids it can be a challenge !

As a former full-time Nanny I remember one of the dad's comment when he came home after a long day at work "Wow, it's so nice to be back to a quiet house", his kids had had their bath and dinner, were in their PJs and I was reading stories or doing quiet activities like jigsaws or Lego, the lights were dimmed. I knew what time he'd be home roughly but if he had been here an hour earlier he would have witnessed a big mess, toys all over the place and noisy, tired boys!

It wasn't sustainable for me so I've always thrived to aim for as much calm as possible inside the house, not only at the end of the day but at any time, keeping a low voice, no shouting and a lot of fun! Shouting and being generally loud is always OK outside though! We all strive to create a calm and happy home for ourselves and our families. A place where we can relax, unwind, and feel at peace. But how do we achieve this? How do we create an atmosphere that promotes tranquillity and happiness? Here are some examples, thoughts, and tips to help you create a calm and happy home. 1. Declutter and Organize: One of the first steps to creating a calm and happy home is to declutter and organize your space. Clutter can create a sense of chaos and overwhelm, making it difficult to relax. Take the time to go through your belongings and get rid of anything that no longer serves you. Organize your belongings in a way that makes sense to you and creates a sense of order. This is the type of help I can really give you when you choose to book an onsite session. It adds value and quality to the coaching or simple childminding. In my many years of experience, I've worked in big or tiny houses or even an apartment in the center of Paris and usually, the more room you have, the more cluttered it can become! 2. Create a Cosy Atmosphere that keeps all the senses happy (glow of the fire or candles, pleasant baking smells, light music, fairy lights in the background) 3. Bring Nature Indoors: Adding elements of nature to your home can have a calming effect on your mind and body. Place potted plants or fresh flowers in your living space to bring a touch of nature indoors. Not only do plants add beauty to your home, but they also purify the air and create a sense of tranquillity and the kids can be taught to take care of them. They love the responsability and feeling useful. 4. Create a Relaxation Corner: Designate a specific area in your home as a relaxation corner. This could be a cosy reading nook, a meditation space, or a corner with comfortable seating where you can unwind and recharge. Fill this space with items that bring you joy and help you relax, such as books, bean bags, or a soft blanket. 5. Incorporate Mindful Practices: Incorporating mindful practices into your daily routine can greatly contribute to a calm and happy home. This could include activities such as meditation, yoga, or journaling. Taking the time to connect with yourself and practice self-care can create a positive and peaceful atmosphere in your home. This can be done at any age, even before the kids can write or read and it will make for lovely keepsakes. Remember, creating a calm and happy home is a continuous process. It requires effort and intentionality. Take the time to assess your space, make changes that align with your vision, and regularly maintain your home to ensure it remains a sanctuary of peace and happiness.
